Werner's is only open until 3:00 p.m.... It only serves breakfast until 11:00 a.m... Not a complaint ; just a statement of fact... I love this place : takes me back..
Great old-school eatery with good food and very friendly service.
I had the crab soup and it was great.
Nice, historic diner. Good food, good service, good prices.
If I could rate them a 0 I would. The food is terrible and the food is over priced for what you get. I have tried them on two other occasions and wasnt happy. This is my third time and I won't be returning. I ordered a simple hamburger, cooked well done with fries. I got a burger that was burned not char but burned so black that I had to scrape off the burn. The fries were salty but I am noticing that everything they make is salty. Whomever the cook is, they are obviously unhappy or lack culinary skills for food preparation. I will not be returning. Worst food in downtown Baltimore Ever!!!!
Good sandwiches great place for lunch
Expensive! Although the Staff was not very welcoming to me, they had no problem taking my $$$. Used to visit in the 80's and planned to visit more often than not, going forward. Fortunately, I am choosing the latter.
I love this old restaurant and the simple, honest food it sells.
Nice quaint diner with a really menu and pocket friendly. Definitely will return.
Salad too sweet. Service is good.
30 minutes to get my breakfast?!!! Not what I expected from a luncheonette.
Great staff. Fast service. Try a cup of the "half and half" soup (cream of crab and Maryland crab) as an appetizer. Plenty of standard dinner fare and lots of good Greek selections. They also make egg creams if you're into that.
This diner is located somewhat on a backstreet, but worth seeking out if your in the inner harbor area. The best breakfast place in the neighborhood that I found, although they do not open until 8 am unfortunately. If you like nostalgia and interior design it’s a must visit for the beautiful late 40:s and 50:s interior, well preserved. Good food. Good service. Reasonable prices. Simple menu. Nice staff. Cool space in a neat old building.
Great food! Love the historic appeal. Check out all the movie posters! This was a part of the show the Wire!
Great breakfast and lunches. Hidden gem. Not open weekends, though. Hours 8-3 can be limiting.
The staff is super friendly and fast. The food is pretty on point. I have consistently gotten good service and my food has been delicious every time. I generally order breakfast, but on the occasions that I have gotten lunch, I've been pleased just the same.
Great, I said great, breakfast, but don't miss lunch! Fridays special was a shrimp salad roll. Awesome and I think there was crab meat in there. My Financé had a huge club sandwich. Just right bread and meat. Really nice people work this place, not "staff'" but really Baltimore friendly people. Classic booth and counter seating. I like it!
The restaurant experience was very good. They have an intersting menu. The service was very good.
I Truly would not recommend this place. There were less than 10 people in the restaurant and it took more then 30 minutes to bring out a breakfast. Scrambled eggs with 2 slices of cheese layed on them pancakes that were semi warm with Hard butter and scrapple that they said took 15 minutes to cook was 1/16 of an inch thick. This was THE WORST BREAKFAST EVER....... DENNY'S IS BETTER. The managers John attitude was most unpleasant, Justin the server was slow and very Bad.
Had a Turkey club that was so huge it was like 2 large sandwiches
Great place for lunch in the Business District. Vast menu, and the people try to please. They are open for breakfast too, and it is wonderful unpretentious work discussion. The food is very good.
Great tasting food. The place is a little small, so if you are going to lunch with a large crowd, you should probably call. Would definitely go back.
Good old fashion diner. Seriously like you walked into the 1950s. Great breakfast, $6.50 for 4 pieces of bacon, 2 eggs, homefries and toast.
Nicest place for breakfast.
rude and mean cash register she treated me with racism and disrespectful because I am forign
Always a good lunch. Recommend the Gyro with fries.
Great lunch stop. Gyro was well prepared with quality ingredients.
This is a gem! Best French Toast I've had in a while. The interior design is very historic, but in a tasteful manner. I forsee having cravings in the future when I'm home in NYC and hopping on a bus just for their French toast.
A great little hole-in-the-wall lunch the food was amazing and so are the waitresses
Really great service and delicious deli American subs. Their chicken noodle soup was sooo good! A cute 1930’s style dinner
Great place for lunch in under an hour for all the businesses in this area. Huge variety of food from chicken tenders to quesadillas to spinach pie to cheesesteaks to a great selection of salads. The salmon is just to die for. Love all of the staff, from the cooks and servers to the management and the owner himself! Great set up. And they truly know and understand the meaning of fast yet excellent service. Their food absolutely never disappoints. Been a faithful regular for almost 7 years and I seem to love it more and more with each year that passes!
Good, quick breakfast. The previous reviewer caused a run on eggs benedict ("I don't know why, but everyone's been ordering it this week! ") so they didn't have any Canadian bacon left, but I had it with normal bacon. Still good!Very classic wood-paneled ambiance.
This is now a real diner, though it doesn't look like one; it's a cute, cozy old wooden-booth nook in an old office building. The current owner is from a real NJ Greek diner family, and the precision and quality show; he's helped by a loyal staff of veteran servers. It's much better than in years past. There's a rush hour of freed cubicle-dwellers 11:50-12:50, so go before or after for you milkshake and club sandwich. Zero parking.
Good food
Werners is a locals favorite for lunch. People that work nearby fill this place up at lunchtime. They aren't open for dinner. This place has become a stop for tourists because it has been a location used in several House of Cards episodes. Nothing fancy to see here. Just good lunch food.
Maybe I'm just used to the quality of food in NJ, but this place was hot trash to me. I first had a hair in my orange juice, when I addressed it, she just brushed it off like it wasn't a big thing. Corn beef was crunchy, I didn't get my home fries at first because she thought I wanted fruit instead (I said fruit on the side) when she came back with the home fries I thought she left some in the back.My stomach is full so there's that, but it wasn't worth the 12 dollars that I paid.
Nestled in the heart of downtown Baltimore, Werner's is a local institution, serving a who's who of breakfast and lunch patrons. Once a film set for the "House of Cards" Netflix series, the atmosphere is reminiscent of an old diner. There are no bad choices on the menu, with an array of salads, sandwiches, and Greek food. Werner's doesn't accept reservations, and you won't be seated until all members of your party are present.
Food is great here! Love the grilled cheese. Nothing special or fancy. Just well made food.
An expansive menu with a handful of vegetarian options. The food is good and the prices are cheap. Very retro diner vibe. The service is prompt and friendly, I have never had to wait for a table or had to wait more than 10 minutes for my food. Great place to go if you are just visiting because it is "Baltimore famous" with scenes from The Wire and House of Cards filmed there.
Great food and amazing atmosphere. This country needs more places like this.
What a great place to eat lunch. A slice of history from the early 50s. Go.
Good food, but you can't substitute any food items on the lunch special menu and they are a bit pricey.
This is a fantastic diner. Retro interior. Great food wonderful service.
Love it here. Very friendly service was quick and theh helped me and my friend out when we needed it the most. Very hot day, and I had my dog. It's not a pet friendly place, but they allowed my German sheperd to come in and gave her some water, we bought something to drink and it was so relaxing. Clean, and quiet place to eat. Recommended to go and try out.
How did I not know about this place until today?? Adorable, old fashioned diner so close to the harbor and downtown offices. Had a fantastic turkey reuben "the rachel" today. Great service. Put it on your list.
My veggie burger & sweet potato fries were delicious!
Super fast service, very friendly staff, and good food. Perfect for a quick bite during jury duty lunch break. Big portions and fair prices.
Great prices, great amount of good food and great service!
Stopped here about 10 yrs ago for a quick cheeseburger for lunch...oh so good :)
We went there in the early morning. Service took a bit, but the food ended up being good.
A hidden gem and a slice of history nestled into the business district of downtown Baltimore. Solid basic food. Solid service. Amazing atmosphere.
